Ports O` Call Village merchants vow court fight over looming evictions

Ports O` Call merchants are pressuring the Port of Los Angeles to delay their Oct. 2 eviction from the commercial village, which is slated to be razed to make way for a new attraction, the San Pedro Public Market. At a waterfront news conference Tuesday, attorney Anthony Patchett said the group has filed a damage claim with the city of Los Angeles for $25 million on behalf of the merchants as well as the Tongva Tribal Nation, which the attorney said should have been informed of the port`s plans to build the new development. ......
